Upper Creek Falls, NC, is a widely popular tourist destination, as well as a staple training ground for the Carolina Canyoning community. Due to the ease of access, this spectacular waterway sees a disproportionate amount of trash accumulate throughout the summer season.

After Labor Day this year, the typical “end” of the main season, a local group of canyoneers, including CAC members and a director, organized a much-needed cleanup for this resource. In just a few hours, this crew hauled 58.5 lbs of trash out of the creek!

Restoring such a scenic and important training ground back to its natural state is among the work that the CAC takes pride in. With the efforts of the local community, this crew left Upper Creek better than they found it.
