Myo Canyon is a popular, high-quality canyoneering route in the North Fork American River area of Placer County, California. In 2025, private landowners installed a gate on Lost Camp Road, blocking the route canyoneers and other recreationists have traditionally used to exit the canyon.

Latest update: strong community presence at the public meeting
Thanks to a fantastic turnout by local canyoneers at the recent public meeting, our community’s voice was heard loud and clear regarding access to Myo Canyon. Canyoneers in attendance spoke up to express strong displeasure over the newly installed gate currently blocking the canyon exit. We are now awaiting the county’s decision on what action they will take to address the blocked access.
Until the county decides, please respect posted private property, park only where it is legal to do so, and watch for updates here and in CAC member emails.
This work is only possible thanks to CAC's members and their donations.
