The RIC Colombia 2019 will be held from 29 September to 5 October in Medellín, Colombia. This event has been organized in a slightly different way than past canyon festivals. A great deal of attention is given to canyon safety. Participants will coordinate with staff at the canyon entrance and exit. There is extensive rescue coverage from 0700 to 1900 hours. Local people are involved in participant transportation to and from the canyons. Participant housing is spread out in various areas in the greater Medellín region. Fees for participation will be collected regionally in the USA, Europe, Ecuador, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Colombia. There will be an opportunity for individuals to present at the International Mountain Security Congress. There is an Adventure Film Festival wherein people bring short videos made beforehand. There is a photo contest at the end of the week. A canyon competition will be held for those wishing to hone their skills. This level of organization necessitates early registration and payment of fees in order to accommodate many people from around the world.
